36 Hour Trip to Houston

Happy Election Day!

I am so ready for today to be over. I'm tired of all the political talk. It's just not my thing and it tends to get heated and very opinionated which just makes me uncomfortable.

With that said... Be sure that you do exercise your right to vote.
If you don't vote, you have no right to complain.
{not that complaining helps anything}

This weekend, I made a brief, but exhausting trip to Houston to help host a bridal shower for one of my best friends. It takes approximately 5 hours to drive from my house to Houston. And I was there less than 36 hours. I'm pooped.

But I got to see a lot of friends that I haven't seen in a while.

Saturday, I left Fort Worth at 8 am. And was greeted with a beautiful sunrise for the drive!
{excuse the crack in the windshield}

While I was driving, I was able to listen to the A&M vs. Mississippi State game!
And A&M came out with a HUGE win over MSU! 38-13!

Saturday afternoon was spent shopping and cooking in preparation for Shelly's shower on Sunday afternoon. It was quite chaotic! But fun!

We had the shower at a place called Mad Potter. It's a pottery painting studio. We bought a big serving platter and painted it and everyone signed it as a "guestbook" for the shower.
Shelly got some amazing gifts! Including a basket of several different bottles of wine, each labels with special occasions to drink them on: wedding night, 1st fight, 1st anniversary, 1st baby, etc. So cute!
The "Mono Girl finally marries River Boy" sign is kind of an inside joke.
Shelly and her fiance, Brian, met while floating the river. For months after they met, Shelly referred to Brian as "river boy." It took about 6 months for me to even figure out what his name was. Well shortly after they met and had been hanging out for a bit, Shelly had a friend call Brian and tell him that she has mono. Little did she know, that all his friends referred to her as "mono girl."

This weekend was so much fun. But I didn't get home from Houston until midnight on Sunday night. But it was totally worth it because I stopped in The Woodlands and had dinner with Leslie who just announced that she and her sweet hubby are having a baby BOY!
{So excited for them!}

I took yesterday off work because I knew I'd need a day to recover after this weekend. And I'm so glad I did! I got some serious Christmas shopping done!

Sorry for the world's longest blog post. There was a lot to cover this weekend!
I'll leave you with this beautiful sunset from last night.

Happy Tuesday!
