Welcome to life is aMAYESing!!

I'm Lia Joy Mayes. I'm a twenty-something newlywed, Texas girl.

The most important thing you should know about me is that Jesus Christ is my Savior and I have been saved by His grace. Without Him, I am nothing. I am human and I do make mistakes, but I'm thankful for God's mercy and grace for His children.

My goal in life is to be consumed with the Creator of all things rather than with things created.

“You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

I'm learning everyday what it means to be a godly and submissive wife. I'm so thankful to be married to my best friend. Corby is such a godly man who leads me and encourages me daily to be the best wife and best person that I can be. I love him more than life itself.

Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands as you do to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. Ephesians 5: 22-25

I was born and raised in Texas. I don't know that I could ever live anywhere else. Texas will forever have my heart. I grew up in a small(ish) town called Bryan/College Station, Texas. Some of you may know if from the HUGE university that calls College Station home—Texas A&M University! I graduated from Texas A&M in 2008. While at A&M, I made the best friends a girl could ask for.
